The Scrubba wash bag team (Calibre8 Pty Ltd) is dedicated to taking part in providing clean water for communities in need. In June 2014 we donated USD15,000 towards a clean water system for a school in Bangladesh and, with the support of our fans, were more recently we donated another USD10,000 to charity: water in support of a clean water project in Ethiopia. Below is a message from charity: water in show of appreciation for our efforts and most recent contribution.
Water changes everything. Preventable waterborne diseases are drastically reduced. Long walks to muddy ponds and rivers are no longer necessary. Time spent collecting water goes down, which gives women a chance to earn an income and children a chance at a better education. Clean water offers improved health, a higher quality of life and hope for a better future.
Thank you for your $10,000.00 donation!

The Scrubba wash bag - a product that gives to those in need
The Scrubba wash bag is a device that makes travel easier. Whether this is the ability to get a machine quality wash in the outback when you are hiking or camping or the ability to pack less clothing and avoid excess luggage fees and hotel laundry costs when on holidays, you can rest assured that your investment in the Scrubba wash bag will also help those in need. We have now funded 2 entire water projects that collectively will provide on-going safe drinking water for thousands of people. This is just the start. On behalf of the team at the Scrubba wash bag, I thank you for your support.
Founder of the Scrubba wash bag
On a trip to Laos and Cambodia in 2012, the Managing Director of Calibre8 Pty Ltd and founder of the Scrubba wash bag, Ashley Newland, became aware of the vast social, political and health implications that unsafe drinking water had in many remote parts of the world and decided to dedicate a portion of our proceeds to tackling this issue.
In June this year, the Scrubba wash bag donated USD15,000 towards a clean water system for a school in Bangladesh and we’ll be donating another USD10,000 towards a well in Ethiopia by the end of this year.
Your Facebook likes and responses have helped us reach our goal, so thank you for your continued support.
If you completed our clean water questionnaire and are still wondering what the average cost of providing clean water for 1 person in the world is, the answer is around USD30.

The situation in Ethiopia
In the last few decades, Ethiopia has faced fierce famine, drought, political instability and war. Peace has returned but the nation remains developmentally weak and more than 50 million Ethiopians don't have access to safe water. Most rural families survive on less than five liters of water per day and walk up to four hours to collect it from open sources.
This charity: water project will involve the construction of new drilled wells in the Tigray region. These deep wells typically supply more water than hand-dug wells, but the projects are more expensive as they require heavy equipment, fuel and larger teams of skilled technicians. The well project we are looking to fund will provide an on-going supply of safe water to around 250 people in the region.
